From 11th to 14th of May 2010

 The event will take place in Madrid, Spain, according to the following guidelines.

1.      ADMISSION

1.1  Pianists of any nationality born as from March 1st 1982 and before March 1st 1992 can apply to take part in the 29th International Piano Competition DELIA STEINBERG, provided they did not win the First Prize in any past edition of the competition.

1.2  Registrations are and will remain open until, and including, March 1st 2010. Applications may be submitted personally, by certified post or

1.3  To enter the competition, the participants must provide:

 · Application Form duly completed.

· Curriculum Vitae, including studies, performances and awards.

· Photocopy of valid passport.

· Two recent photographs, one passport sized photograph and another artistic one, 9×12cm, suitable for publication.

· Photocopy of the receipt of payment of the entry fee of € 75 (Seventy Five Euro) stating clearly the name of the candidate. The payment must be made, free of charges for the Competition, in a Bank transfer to the following account:

The entry fee will not be reimbursed in any case.

The documents presented by the participant will be considered as confidential and handled with maximum care. They will not be given back in any case.

If any of the information submitted by the participant is proved to be false, that will automatically terminate his/her participation.

2.      DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMPETITON

2.1   DRAW AND RECEPTION FOR THE CONTESTANTS

The draw to determine the order in which the contestants will participate, as well as a welcome reception for all contestants, will take place on May 10th, 2010 at 8.00 pm at the Victoria Theatre, 19, Pizarro Street, ground floor, right, Madrid.

2.2   FIRST TEST

The First Test will take place on May 11th, 2010 at 9.00 am at the Victoria Theatre.

Before taking part in the Competition, the contestants will have to present an official document in order to prove his/her identity.

The First Test will require the interpretation of:

 a) One Study from F. Chopin to be chosen amongst the following: Op.10 or Op. 25 (except Op.10 nº 3, 6 and 9 and Op.25 nº 2, 7 and 9)

 b) One Study by one of the following composers: F. Liszt, A. Scriabin, S. Rachmaninoff, C. Debussy and Ch. Alkan.  

At the end of the First Test, the Jury will select and announce the names of the contestants that will take part in the Second Test.

2.3  SECOND TEST

The Second Test will take place on May 12th at a time to be announced the day before and will require the interpretation of:

a)      One work freely chosen by the contestant. The duration should be from 5 to 15 minutes.

This work will not be repeated in any of the other tests.

At the end of the Second Test, the Jury will select and announce the names of the contestants that will take part in the Third Test.

2.4  THIRD TEST

The Third Test will take place on May 13th at a time to be announced the day before and will consist of:

a)      One “Sonata” of one of the following composers: F.J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven or F. Schubert.

At the end of the Third Test, the Jury will decide and announce the names of the contestants, which will be no more than six, who will take part in the Final Test.

2.5  FINAL TEST

The Final Test will take place on May 14th, at 6.00 pm.

It will consist of the interpretation of two works to be chosen by the contestant (except studies), one from group a) and one from group b), from the following composers:

a) F. Chopin, F. Liszt, R. Schumann, J. Brahms, F. Mendelssohn, F. Schubert, C. Frank, G. Fauré.

 b) C. Debussy, M. Ravel, S. Rachmaninoff, S. Prokofiev, B. Bártok, O. Messiaen, M. Mussorsky, I. Stravinsky, A. Berg, A. Scriabin, I. Albéniz, M. de Falla, E. Granados.

3.      PRIZES

3.1  On May 14th, after the Final Test and the Jury’s deliberation, winners will be announced and awards will be given as well as the supporting certificates of the prizes.

3.2  Prizes for the Competition

 

· First Prize: 5.000 Euro, Plaque and Diploma

· Second Prize: 2.000 Euro and Diploma

· Third Prize: 1.000 Euro and Diploma

· Semi-finalist Diploma and Finalist Diploma

3.3  The Jury can declare any prize void, if they consider it so.

3.4  All the award winners must receive their prizes in person. Otherwise, they will lose any rights regarding them.

4.      GENERAL CONDITIONS

4.1  Once registered, the participants accept entirely the present Regulations as well as any norm established in order to support them.

4.2   Every decision by the Jury and the Competition Direction is without appeal.

4.3  There will not be admitted any changes in the required repertoire.

4.4  All performances must be played by heart and without repetitions, except those indispensable for the correct musical phrasing or those with an important interpretation value.

Repetitions are allowed for works performed during the Final Test.

4.5   If the Jury deemed it necessary, they may request from the participant to perform, for each test, all or part of the chosen compositions.

4.6  The Jury will take into consideration the importance of the artistic value and virtuosity of the program chosen, in all phases of the competition.

4.7  The 29th International Piano Competition DELIA STEINBERG, will keep all broadcasting rights, audio and video recording rights, TV rights, for the different tests during the contest. Also the right to produce a Compact Disk or DVD, market and give freely to any person or entity the aforementioned rights exclusively and without limitation. The concession of these rights will be made free of charges.

4.8  The Competition Direction reserves the right to change or modify any point of the present regulations.

4.9   In order to avoid any doubts or misunderstandings regarding the translated versions of these regulations, the Spanish version will be considered the official one for all purposes.
